Lowkey, this year’s lineup of Valentine’s romcoms is weak and not nearly as stacked as in past years. Luckily for those of us who love to channel our inner Jessica Day and scream cry to beautiful people falling in love from the comfort of our home snuggled up solo with a box of Cheez-its and a fat ass glass of Pinot Noir, we have I Want You Back.

My aunt has always been obsessed with I Love Lucy, so growing up we would watch it together. I always found her captivating. Even though the show was well before my time, it held up. And that is mostly due to Lucille Ball’s flawless comedic timing and knack for physical comedy.

While it is undoubtedly pristine visually, the film lacks emotional depth and competent scriptwork, causing it to drown in its own cesspool of mediocrity.

Adam McKay has gone from goofy comedies like Anchorman and Step Brothers to directing critically lauded political satires such as Vice and The Big Short. His newest film of that ilk, Don’t Look Up, is by far his most star-studded and ambitious film to date, it's also his messiest.
